Transcatheter Aortic-Valve Implantation (TAVI) is another option for patients with aortic stenosis who have high risk for surgery or contraindication for open heart surgery. Recent studies have shown a significant reduction in mortality compared with standard treatment. The implantation involves accessing femoral artery, placing the catheter, balloon dilatation of native aortic valve, deploying the valve and frame over the native aortic valve area.
