Myocardial perfusion imaging (MIBI) |
What is MIBI Scan? Myocardial perfusion imaging (MIBI) mainly aims to detect cardiac ischemia and viability. The area of ischemia (insufficient blood supply) manifests as no radioactive tracer (MIBI) in that area which can be viewed in multiple projections of the heart. The patient is required to either exercise stress or drug administration such as adenosine or dobutamine to determine the coronary blood flow integrity . The radioactive tracer is injected at 7 minutes. Images of the heart muscle are obtained 30-120 minutes following the injection. What would you prepare?
